Please note: as I get my business running, I am keeping track of turnaround times so will update FAQs with SLAs & timelines, formal guidelines on proofing and requested edits and how those impact timelines, and policies regarding refunds and returns. Please note that returns are not available for custom art, but I’d love for you to be happy with the product so please reach out with any feedback!
Simple Sketch FAQ
Can you give more details on what the Simple Sketch is vs. The Minimalist?
The Simple Sketch is essentially a black and white outline of your pet. This includes some basic shading. You’ll get all of their features — nose, eyes, ears, mouth, etc. It’s the most basic version of Rue Noelle’s custom pet portraits, and the quickest to produce so you should typically receive a Simple Sketch in a quicker timeline than The Minimalist or The Maximalist. You won’t get a full color, full textured print. This takes a good amount of time and care to get your pet right so there is a separate product that accounts for this time, The Minimalist.
Submitting your pet photos - what are the best photos to send?
Each and every pet is unique, and each has unique proportions. Try to send a capture that captures the most amount of their body visible so that I can get proportions right! If you’d like just a headshot portrait, send in a picture that has them looking the way you’d like them to in the portrait (e.g. head on, to the side, etc.). For full body, again any photos that capture the majority of their body are great! If you’re still looking for guidance, my best recommendation is to send me a photo of your pet in their most natural position (maybe sitting and looking at you for a dog or cat, a beautiful headshot of your pig, your chicken in full sprint). You can always email me at shop@ruenoelle with your ideas and to get my recommendations!
What is the difference in paper types?
Both are beautiful! The Matte Cardstock option is 120lb with a matte finish, nice thick quality. The watercolor paper gives it more of an elevated fine art look and feel, done on a giclee printer using archival quality inks. The watercolor paper is priced per square inch and more expensive than the matte cardstock, so prices have been updated accordingly. Both will give you a great, high quality premium print.
What types of pets do you do?
All pets are welcome! I have had dogs my whole life so they were my obvious first subjects. Send in your pet chicken, pig, horse, cat, etc : )
What if I order this now but want to upgrade to The Minimalist or The Maximalist down the line? Or add my print to another product?
Once you receive your order you’ll get a link down the road to a “Secret Shop” with links to purchase additional prints or products at a discounted rate. I keep digital files for at least a year so these give me a starting point.
I have more questions!
